PETA's resolution asked PepsiCo to require sugarcane suppliers to switch away from bull-drawn carts to mechanized/eco-tractor harvesting, citing documented beating and abuse of draft bulls. PepsiCo initially tried to exclude the proposal; PETA Foundation sued, and PepsiCo reversed course within a day (per PETA's account) to include it. The resolution went to a vote May 6, 2026 and received about 8.8% support, described by PETA as an unusually large first-year showing for an animal-welfare proposal.
