Independent nonprofit foundation, governed by a two-person Board, that brings together banks, insurers, asset managers, asset owners, pension funds and impact funds around the Finance for Biodiversity Pledge (200+ signatories, representing over EUR 23 trillion in assets) to share knowledge, co-develop guidance, and engage in policy advocacy toward governments and regulators; in July 2025 it coordinated a joint Global Financial Institutions Statement to Governments on Deep-Seabed Mining signed by 41 institutions representing over EUR 3.8 trillion. It explicitly does not coordinate members' own investment or voting decisions: signatories act unilaterally on their own strategies and fiduciary duties.
