The USA East Province of the Society of Jesus is a province of the Jesuits, the Roman Catholic religious order founded in 1540, formed by the 2020 merger of the Maryland and USA Northeast provinces and covering more than 600 Jesuits, 11 colleges and universities, 26 schools, 17 parishes, 6 retreat centers and 2 international schools on the U.S. East Coast. Catholic investors it leads hold GEO Group shares and won 88% shareholder support in 2019 for a resolution pressing GEO to issue an annual human rights report; in November they filed a further proposal seeking disclosure on whether GEO's ICE detention work contributes to human rights violations, which GEO's counsel told the SEC it would not put to a vote. Jesuit priest Bryan Pham leads the investors' engagement with the company.
